Parts Location Guide For Plasma Televisions
Power Supply This board converts the main line voltage 110 volts ac to various secondary voltages needed by the rest of the television circuits, some of this secondary voltages are: Standby 5 Volts without this voltage there is no power on light in front of the TV in most cases and it keeps the control microprocessor awake to receive various commands from the control buttons or remote control.
Other voltages are the audio power which is anywhere from 12 to 18 volts and the sustain board power which are anywhere from 180 to 205 volts for the VS voltage and he VA voltage which is about 60 Volts and all have various current levels depending on the design.
Main Audio Video Board Is the board that controls all the televisions functions and signals, some of them are the power on command to achieve the secondary power supply voltages, all the video and audio signal processing such as HDMI signal, Video and audio signal, component and composite audio and video signals and any digital broadcast signal that is available in your area and received via an outdoor antenna or rabbit ears.
Y-Sustain Board Is the board that drives all the Y-axis panel signals coming from the logic board, that where it's name comes from, this board also requires the Vs and Va voltages derived from the power supply board.
Upper SDR or Y Driver Board Is the board that drives all the upper half part of the plasma screen signals coming from the Y-Sustain to the individual lines on the plasma panel.
Lower SDR or Y Driver Board Is the board that drives all the lower half part of the plasma screen signals coming from the Y-Sustain to the individual lines on the plasma panel.
Z or X Sustain Board Is actually the panels discharge board and controls the X- axis part of the plasma screen, also it's supplied by Vs and Va voltages from the power supply board.
Logic Board Is the board that drives the signal/data received from the main board and this information is supplied to the buffer boards and the Y-Sustain board via the flat ribbon cables.
Speakers are used for the sound reproduction and are being driven by the audio amplifier located on the main audio video board.
