Had a customer that needed his TV repaired for the Super Bowl 2018 a Samsung UN55HU9000 with no picture and he had to have it by Sunday for the game. After troubleshooting the unit on Saturday I found that the main board was bad and the part BN94-07675W even the sub BN94-07049 was not available I decided to further troubleshoot the board, since the fuses were open I checked the other side of them for a short and for sure the Fluke showed 0 reading dead short, in a bind since the board is bad I said let's give it 13 Volts on the shorted side and see what smokes, after doing so I see a smoke signal coming out from under the large heat sink. Removing and checking further found the corporate it was C225 a surface mount cap located near IC221 / TPS56C20 regulator ic, as for the fuses F201 / F202 / F203 use your discretion. Picture attached shows the location of capacitor C225 is removed. To make the long story short the unit is fixed and the customer can enjoy the game on his curved television.
Thanks for reading.
